14 Not Forgotten Ceremony & Memorial Unveiling

December 6, 2022 at 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

The School of Engineering is hosting the annual 14 Not Forgotten memorial ceremony to remember the 14 women whose lives were tragically lost in the École Polytechnique massacre. In addition to the ceremony this year, we will be unveiling a new permanent memorial installation which will be a visible symbol of the School of Engineering’s support for diversity, equity and inclusion. To learn more about the permanent memorial, click here. The artwork is part of the UBC Okanagan Public Art Collection. The piece, entitled For Future Matriarchs (2022) was created by an internationally recognized Syilx artist Krista Belle Stewart and Tania Willard, Assistant Professor teaching visual arts in the Department of Creative Studies.

We ask you to join us from 3:30 to 5:00pm. The first portion of the event will be the ceremony located outside the EME lower level foyer in the EME amphitheatre – between the EME building and the pond. There will be space for reflection and refreshments after the ceremony inside EME lower-level foyer.

Dress accordingly as the ceremony portion will take place outside in the EME Outdoor Amphitheatre as well as the EME Lower Level Foyer.
