Public Anthropology Speaker Series

Join us for The De Burgos Memorial Lecture on March 18, the second event of the 2025 Public Anthropology Speaker Series.

Drawing on more than 2 years of ethnographic fieldwork in the Ecuadorian Amazon, Amelia Fiske presents her graphic novel Toxic and other experiments in using graphic art as a tool of public engagement on issues of toxicity, extraction, and environmental justice.

Dr. Fiske is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for the History and Ethics of Medicine at the Technical University of Munich. Her work is situated at the intersection of cultural anthropology, science and technology studies, graphic art, social medicine and bioethics, and environmental humanities.
