Aligning Assignments with GenAI Expectations

October 30 at 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm

Free
Students in class using computers Aligning Assignments with GenAI Expectations

The advent of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has created challenges around academic integrity for instructors and students. In a recent institutional survey, UBC students reported frustration with the lack of clarity regarding the acceptable uses of GenAI tools in their courses. Instructors may find it challenging to specify limitations, given the different types of GenAI use, while students can encounter grey areas when working on assignments.

Instructors are invited to move beyond their GenAI policy to consider and account for how students may be using GenAI tools for specific assignments. This hands-on workshop will guide instructors in analyzing their assignments and making adjustments to clarify and reinforce their expectations around GenAI use in alignment with intended learning outcomes.
