Alumni Office Hours with Paul Lambert – Partner, Area 120 at Google

The Centre for Student Involvement and Careers, in partnership with the UBC Hub of Ten Thousand Coffees, is excited to bring you a virtual mentorship and networking opportunity to connect with UBC Alumni, Paul Lambert. This event is open to all students.

Paul is a Partner at Area 120, Google’s internal incubator and early-stage investment fund. Prior to Area 120, Paul was an entrepreneur and Product Manager at both Google and Twitter.

In 2009, Paul founded Learndot while a UBC student and was CEO for 5 years. In 2014 after Learndot was acquired by a Silicon Valley company, Paul moved to California. Soon after the acquisition closed he joined Twitter as a Product Manager and in 2016 moved to Google to lead the Machine Learning strategy for Gmail. His team developed Smart Compose, Smart Reply, and Nudging for Gmail, among other well-known features that are now used by over a billion people. Paul and his work have been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The New Yorker.

Originally from Calgary, Paul moved to Vancouver after high school to attend UBC and spent 8 years on campus. He holds both a Bachelor of Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts (English and Anthropology). You can visit prlambert.com to learn more about Paul.

During his Office Hour, Paul will speak about his time at UBC, his career path, and will focus on some of the required skills to find career success in the world’s top tech companies.

Location: The event will take place on GoToWebinar, and an event Link will be emailed to you within 48 hours of the office hour.

Attending an Office Hour is an excellent opportunity for you to expand your network and participate in an open, roundtable discussion with alumni.

Make sure to prepare one question for our alumni speaker for this Office Hour. You will be given an opportunity to ask your question either verbally or through GoToWebinar’s chat function.
