Alumni Office Hours with Sara Peacock – Community Manager at Pela

November 5, 2020 at 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

The Centre for Student Involvement and Careers, in partnership with the UBC Hub of Ten Thousand Coffees, is excited to bring you a virtual mentorship and networking opportunity to connect with UBC alumna, Sara Peacock. This event is open to all students and alumni.

Walking Outside of Your Comfort Zone

Sara grew up in the South Okanagan Valley and, from an early age, she absorbed her grandparents’ philosophy of caring for the Earth and making the most of what you are given in life. After completing her bachelor of arts degree at UBC Okanagan majoring in English and minoring in psychology, she ditched her plans of doing a BEd and moved to Vancouver to pursue her interest in fashion.

After creating her own opportunities and finding the value in saying “yes”, Sara earned a position as the runway show coordinator at Eco-Fashion Week, a Vancouver-based event series focused on creating a sustainable future within the fashion industry. Through the event, she met her next opportunity— a made-to-order indie bridal brand called Truvelle. With Sara as the marketing director, the brand grew from one label and a small local boutique to a standout in the industry with four brands under its umbrella and a retail presence worldwide.

At the top of 2020, Sara has now moved back to where it all began to continue her lifework of building brands with a bigger purpose. At Pela, Sara leads the charge on building a global community that is passionate about the brand’s mission to create a sustainable future for all, one small act at a time.
