Annual Labour Lecture: Dr. Anelyse Weiler
March 12 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Globally, farming has become more chemically dependent than ever. Agricultural workers in North America are facing not only toxic pesticide exposure, but also hotter temperatures and growing political hostility toward
immigration.
At this year’s annual labour lecture, Dr. Anelyse Weiler explores how labour movements have built working-class power and advanced stronger workplace safety laws.
Dr. Weiler is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Victoria. Her research examines struggles for workers’ rights, dignified global migration, and environmental sustainability.
The Annual Labour Lecture is funded by the North Okanagan Labour Council; the Department of Economics, Philosophy and Political Science; the Department of History and Sociology, and the Department of Community, Culture and Global Studies.
