Black Student Experience Focus Groups

July 7, 2023 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

The Student Experience Office seeks Black-identifying student athletes, undergraduate students, and graduate students’ feedback to inform next steps in developing community for Black-identifying students.

The Black Student Success Coordinator is conducting focus groups where students can share their stories. Our conversation will focus on the Black student experience, identify gaps, and discuss methods to create community for the Black population at UBC Okanagan in a safe space.

This is a Black identity-based focus group that is open to all domestic and international undergraduate and graduate students. We will be conducting these focus groups virtual and in-person. Participation virtually involves attending a 1-hour zoom session where participants will receive a gift card to Starbucks or Pritchard dining hall in appreciation of their time. Participation in-person involves attending a 2-hour focus group session in UNC 335 where food and refreshments will be provided.
