Celebrating Black Excellence in Academia

February 17, 2023 at 9:30 am - 11:00 am

In honour of Black History Month, join us to celebrate Black excellence in academia. Hosted by the College of Graduate Studies, this event will feature a panel of accomplished Black scholars, including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty.

While we should always recognize Black excellence, the reality is that Black communities and cultures are under-represented and under-appreciated. Black scholars at UBC Okanagan and beyond conduct innovative and impactful research that contributes to the vibrancy of academia and local and global communities.

Panelists will share their experiences and achievements, discussing their personal journeys through academia.
With this event, we aim to center, celebrate, and amplify Black voices and their successes in academia.
