Creating a sustainable SoTL ecosystem: Successes, strains and opportunities

April 10 at 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

Across Canada, the need to build sustainable, institution-wide capacity for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) has become increasingly urgent. Although institutions continue to emphasize the importance of evidence-informed teaching, faculty engagement in SoTL and the structures that support it remain uneven and often fragile. This tension raises important questions about how institutions can move beyond isolated initiatives toward more coherent and sustainable SoTL ecosystems.

This session will feature Dr. Jacky Deng, Educational Developer from Toronto Metropolitan University, who will share lessons from TMU’s growing SoTL ecosystem. It will examine a range of complementary initiatives, including a SoTL workshop series, a teaching fellowship program, a 3M National Teaching Fellows Seminar Series, a SoTL resource hub and an intensive SoTL Retreat.
