Educational exhibit on Indian Day Schools in Canada

September 20 at 7:00 am - 10:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 7:00 am, repeating until October 7, 2022

Free

Over 200,000 Indigenous children attended 669 federally-operated institutions established and funded by the Canadian Government called Indian Day Schools, yet little is known about this important piece of Canadian history. Indigenous Programs & Services and UBC Okanagan Library have worked together to present the Legacy of Hope Foundation’s Indian Day Schools in Canada Educational Exhibition.

The Legacy of Hope Foundation exhibit uses archival photographs and documents to tell the story of Indian Day Schools in Canada. All UBC Okanagan community members are encouraged to visit the exhibit and learn the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential and Day School Systems.

On display during regular library hours from now until October 7 in the UBC Okanagan Library.
