Embedding Transparency into GenAI Use on Assignments

February 11 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free
GenAI workshop

While course policies and assignment descriptions delineate GenAI expectations, techniques that provide transparency around specific use can reinforce and reward academic integrity. GenAI proposals, choices for assignment tracks, push-back logs, and agency tracking are some assignment add-ons that help guide students in documenting and reflecting on their process and engagement with GenAI outputs.

This hands-on workshop will introduce instructors to these techniques and support application to their own teaching contexts to:

  • make visible and acceptable how students use GenAI for certain tasks;
  • provide a means for accountability and recalibration if GenAI is being used in a way that infringes on student agency and learning; and
  • embed reflection + critical analysis of GenAI output to reinforce learning, build AI literacy, and reward student effort.

Instructors are invited to bring an assignment to assess or, alternatively, imagine one they would like to assign in the future.

This workshop is offered as part of a GenAI and Academic Integrity series co-facilitated by the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Academic Integrity Matters (AIM) Program.
