Facing Up to Racism at Work with Dr. Hadiya Roderique

November 17, 2020 at 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

UBC Okanagan Distinguished Speaker Dr. Hadiya Roderique

Dr. Hadiya Roderique wrote about Being Black on Bay Street in a 2017 Globe and Mail article that blew open a conversation across Canada on racism. The dialogue she helped to spark she continues today, examining what it may take for workplaces to be truly inclusive. She is a self-proclaimed bias fighting badass, named one of Canadian Lawyers’ Most Influential of 2018, and a highly respected journalist and researcher.

On Nov. 17, join Dr. Roderique for a timely discussion about racial inequities in the workplace. Honouring the depth and complexity of the issues, addressing the barriers and challenges, she will counter common arguments with informed data and strategies to move us toward equity and a true meritocracy.
