Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada: Mapping Residential Schools
September 23 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, this event will be an opportunity to locate various Indian Residential Schools (IRS) on the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada. As well, to provide educational information about several profiled Residential Schools that have connections to the local territory. We hope that the Indigenous Peoples Atlas will help visitors identify where IRS were located, provide some contextual history about what happened to Indigenous children in Canada, and the contemporary impacts.
The 25-by-35-foot Indigenous Peoples’ Atlas will be on display in the UNC Ballroom (UNC 200) on September 23 from 10 am to noon for UBC Okanagan students, faculty and staff.
All members of the campus community are welcome, and no registration is required.
