Indigenous Peoples’ Atlas of Canada
April 7 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

An enormous, 25-by-35-foot, Indigenous territorial map of what we now call Canada will be on display in the University Centre Ballroom (UNC 200) on April 7 from 10 am to 12 noon for UBC Okanagan students, faculty and staff to view. The event hopes to assist in further learning about the historical contexts and traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples.
The Canadian Geographic Indigenous Peoples of Canada Atlas “re-maps” and “de-maps” colonial versions of traditional Indigenous territories to decolonize maps and mapping, providing an opportunity to view the geography of what we call Canada from the perspectives of Indigenous Peoples.
All from the campus community are welcome, and no registration is required.
