Legacy of Hope Exhibit: A National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 23, 2025 at 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Event Series (See All)
Free

In 2021, Bill C-5 made September 30th the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As Canada’s first statutory holiday dedicated to commemorating First Nations, Inuit and Métis Survivors of the Residential and Day School System, September 30 is a day to promote education, empower Indigenous voices and work towards Reconciliation for a brighter tomorrow for future generations.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation also stands for Indigenous Remembrance, as all too often, Indigenous histories are obscured and ignored in the history of Canada. This exhibition tells the whole truth about the colonization of Indigenous Peoples, the Residential and Day School Systems, the impacts on generations from the Child Welfare System, and other colonial acts of oppression. (Legacy of Hope, 2025)
