About the Presentation
Current therapies for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) rely on non-specific immunosuppression, which can cause significant side effects and limit treatment effectiveness. This presentation will explore “GlycoCaging,” an innovative drug-delivery strategy developed through a collaboration between UBC researchers that harnesses the gut microbiome to activate therapeutics specifically in the lower gastrointestinal tract. By targeting treatment where it is needed most, this approach has the potential to reduce systemic side effects, lower required drug dosages and advance the development of next-generation IBD therapies.
