Move UBC Keynote: The Power of Movement for Resilience with Olympian Clara Hughes
February 24 at 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

As part of Move UBC’s 10-year anniversary, join Olympian and mental health advocate Clara Hughes on Tuesday, February 24, from 1:30-3 pm for a watch party in the SUO Theatre (UNC106).
Clara will share her experiences as a high-performance athlete and explore how movement can support resilience, mental health, and overall wellbeing both on campus and beyond.
This event will include opening remarks from UBC President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon and is presented by Athletics & Recreation, Human Resources, and Student Health & Wellbeing.
Presenter Information: This year’s keynote speaker is Clara Hughes. Clara is a multi-sport Olympian, one of the few to compete in both the Winter and Summer Olympics. Hughes earned two bronze medals in the 1996 Summer Olympics and four medals over the course of three Winter Olympics. Her decorated past has led her to be recognized in Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Clara’s story aligns closely with UBC’s commitment to advancing wellbeing through teaching, learning, research, and campus culture. Her voice spotlights physical activity not only for physical health but as a key contributor to mental wellbeing.
