Opera Under the Stars 2026

Join us in the central courtyard of UBC’s Okanagan campus for an outdoor evening concert, hosted by Opera Kelowna, featuring a quartet of professional opera singers. Artists will perform favourite songs from well-known operas, as well as music of other genres and perhaps a surprise performance or two! 

Bring your favourite blanket or festival chairs and settle on the lawn for a glorious evening under the stars. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic and refreshments, but no outside alcohol is permitted on site. 

Presented by UBC Okanagan’s Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies.

Event details 

• Site opens at 6:30 pm 
• Performance begins at 8 pm and will run a little over one hour 
• Refreshments: Midtown Station Food + Drink picnic boxes for pre-order and pick up when you arrive 
• Parking will be free across campus beginning at 6 pm 
• Accessibility needs? Golf cart transport will be available from the parking lots E, F and H. Please ensure you arrive early if you require this special service, as there may be a wait 

Elevate your experience 

Add to your night on campus with an OPUS Elevated Experience, beginning at 6:45 pm at the Faculty of Critical and Creative Studies building and featuring: 

• Evening access to the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies’ exhibition of The Structure of Smoke, which explores artworks that problematize the poetic, structural and political aspects of fire. 
• Pre-concert reception with community leaders sponsored by the Faculty of Critical and Creative Studies, featuring wine from Jason Parkes Customs and refreshments from the fabulous team at the Four Points Sheraton. 
• An escort to reserved, chaired seating for the concert.

Limited tickets for this experience are available at $80 each. Tickets must be purchased with OPUS registration.

Interested in volunteering?

We are looking for UBCO staff to fulfill wayfinding roles for the event. Volunteers would be located around the main campus, liaising with guests arriving and directing them to the check-in desk, answering UBC questions, and being one of the first UBC points of contact.
