q̓ayisxn – Off the Rocks Exhibition Opening Reception and Artist Talk with Taylor Baptiste

January 10 at 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)
Free

Join emerging Syilx artist Taylor Baptiste to celebrate the launch of her new exhibition q̓ayisxn—Off the Rocks curated by UBC Okanagan Gallery Curator Dr. Stacey Koosel and Curatorial Assistant Ryan Trafananko.

These larger-than-life installation artworks, like much of Baptiste’s artistic practice, draw from the surrounding landscape, cultures and materials and use a red ochre pigment to honour the stories, sites and stories of her ancestors.

Baptiste will take visitors into the exhibition for an artist talk that explores her creative practice and process. This will be followed by an opening reception at 5 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
