Respect, Sincerity & Responsibility: Land Acknowledgements at UBC

July 25, 2021 at 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

The Centre for Teaching and Learning, in partnership with Aboriginal Programs & Services and Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (Vancouver), will be offering the Foundations for Indigenization in Teaching & Learning Series over the summer sessions for faculty and instructors to bridge knowledge gaps and provide the foundation needed for Indigenizing teaching and learning practices at UBC Okanagan. Participants will gain the language, awareness, and foundational context necessary to begin the journey of Indigenizing curriculum, course design, and engagement.

The Respect, Sincerity & Responsibility: Land Acknowledgements at UBC session is an asynchronous module through UBC Vancouver’s Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT). Recognize why land acknowledgements are an important part of our work at UBC, identify your positionality and responsibility when offering a land acknowledgement, and utilize resources and tools to draft a land acknowledgement.

Series participants are strongly encouraged to self-enroll and complete this course through Canvas (approximately 60 minutes) between July 18–August 8.
