Cancelled: Responding to Disclosures for Graduate Students and Postdocs

May 31 at 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

*This workshop has been cancelled.*

The College of Graduate Studies invites you to join us for a session on disclosures. This session is for graduate students and postdocs.

Facilitator: Johannah Black from SVPRO

NOTE: It is important to know that this training will include some detailed discussion of sexualized and gender-based violence.

In order to properly respond to sexualized and gender-based violence, we must first understand what it is and some of the common ways that we see it showing up on our campus. In this session, we will explore:

  • definitions of various forms of sexualized and gender-based violence including: sexual assault, sexual harassment, voyeurism, stalking, and online sexual violence;
  • discuss common responses to trauma; and
  • identify trauma-informed ways to respond to disclosures of sexualized and gender-based violence.

Spaces will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants, so that we can maintain a supportive and safe learning environment.

This workshop counts towards the Cultural and Social Awareness credential.

If you have any questions, please email us at gradadmin.ubco@ubc.ca.
