Speaker Series: Class, Gender and Race on Trial: An Ethnography of mental-health courtrooms in Quebec

The Department of History and Sociology invites the public to attend Class, Gender and Race on trial: An ethnography of “mental-health courtrooms” in Quebec, a lecture from Dr. Emmanuelle Bernheim.

Dr. Emmanuelle Bernheim is a Professor in the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section, at the University of Ottawa and holds the Canada Research Chair in Mental Health and Access to Justice. Her research focuses on the role of law and justice in the production and reproduction of inequalities.

In her talk, Dr. Bernheim will discuss issues of access to justice and its implementation for marginalized citizens.
