THE A PROJECT alumni UBC Community Service Event

Join fellow UBC alumni and UBCO students for a meaningful morning of service at The Vibrant Veggie Garden, a volunteer-run, not-for-profit garden in Kelowna.
Did you know that Kelowna’s Vibrant Veggie Garden donated more than 15,000 pounds of fresh produce last season to support families and local organizations? Volunteers like you power the not-for-profit garden, which partners with the Central Okanagan Food Bank and other community organizations.
Make a meaningful difference by helping to prepare the garden for winter! Get your hands in the dirt, connect with your UBC community, help to prepare the garden for winter slumber, and if there is enough produce to pick, volunteers may take home some fresh fall veggies! Bring your friends and family – volunteers of all ages are welcome. It’s a fun, educational, and rewarding way to give back and help feed the valley, together.
Additional information:
- This event is open to all UBC alumni, UBCO students, faculty, staff and friends of UBC. Alumni may register up to four guests.
- As this is a rain-or-shine outdoor event, please dress accordingly. For safety reasons, we also advise wearing long sleeves, pants and closed-toe shoes. You may bring your own gardening gloves, or you can use those provided.
- Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own drinking water (potable water won’t be available) and a bag for any produce to take home if available.
- Registration deadline: Monday, September 29, 2025 (or until spaces fill up).

THE A PROJECT is alumni UBC’s volunteer program that brings together our alumni to support community organizations. Through individual, group and virtual volunteer opportunities, we focus on protecting the environment, food security and access to education and resources.
