The Librarians film screening

February 28 at 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

The librarians film cover with three people standing inside an open book.

UBC Okanagan Library, Okanagan College Library and Okanagan Regional Library have partnered to offer a screening of the film The Librarians at Okanagan College’s Kelowna campus. After the film, there will be a panel discussion.

About the film

In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQia+ stories, triggering sweeping book bans across the US at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work, The Librarians is a chilling cautionary tale and a rallying cry for the freedom to read.
