UBCO AI in Action September Event: Privacy Fundamentals for AI at UBC

September 23 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

AI @ UBC: Privacy Principles and Practical Use-Case Scenarios

You don’t need to be an AI expert to ask the right questions.

AI tools are already part of everyday work at UBC—but an enterprise license doesn’t make every use appropriate, and “reviewed” doesn’t mean “approved for ALL use cases”.

Taylor Bohn, Senior Privacy and Information Security Risk Advisor from the UBC Privacy and Information Security team, will present an interactive session exploring how to use AI tools safely, follow UBC policies and guidelines effectively and how to engage with related units at UBC for support.

This practical session will give staff a simple way to tell the difference between a helpful AI shortcut and one that quietly creates privacy, accuracy, or security consequences.

Who it’s for

Administrative and operational staff who use—or are considering using—AI tools in their day-to-day work. No technical or legal background required.

Why attend

Through realistic university workplace scenarios, you’ll practice spotting risk signals and choosing the right path forward before a workflow is built.
