Unmasking Pathogens, Protecting Harvests: Supporting Canadian Growers from the Lab to the Field

April 13 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

The Irving K. Barber Faculty of Science presents this seminar as part of the Department of Biology Seminar Series.

About the Talk

The grape and wine industry contributes more than $11 billion annually to the Canadian economy, with wine ranking as the country’s highest value‑added agricultural product. However, grapevines host more plant pathogens than any other crop, leading to significant economic losses if diseases are left unmanaged.

This seminar will highlight how multidisciplinary research conducted in the Okanagan Valley—from pathogen identification in the laboratory to disease management in the field—is helping Canadian grape growers mitigate disease risks and protect vineyard sustainability.
