To celebrate National Poetry Month in April, Valley Voices is hosting Kelowna’s second Poetry Festival featuring an exciting series of readings and workshops.  The festival begins on Friday, April 11, at the Alternator Gallery in Kelowna with a kickoff reading feature Brianna Ferguson (Master of Fine Arts alumna and current Creative Writing Instructor) with cameo appearances by a selection of emerging poets in the MFA program at UBCO. On Saturday, April 12, the Okanagan Regional Library will be hosting all-day events at the downtown Kelowna branch.

Poets include Brianna Ferguson, Norah Bowman, jaz papadopoulos, Sharon Thesen (Creative Writing Professor Emeritus) and Klara du Plessis (UBCO postdoc).

  • April 11—Kelowna: Kick-Off Reading Brianna Ferguson and UBCO Master of Fine Arts students (Alternator Gallery, 7 PM)
  • April 12—Kelowna (Downtown Library, 1380 Ellis St.)
    • Brown Bag Reading with Norah Bowman and jaz papadopoulos  (12 noon)
    • Free Poetry Workshops (10:15–11:45 pm- registration required)
    • The Long Poem with Sharon Thesen and Klara Du Plessis  (1:30–3 pm)
