Gardening Workshop
UBC Okanagan Library invites students to join us for a workshop on how to start your own mini-garden! Interactions with nature, no matter how small, are a boost to wellbeing, and growing a small amount of your own food can build health and confidence! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to grow plants from seed and how to repot them when they’re bigger. All supplies will be provided for you to start a few vegetable, herb, and/or wildflower seeds for crops that do well in pots.
This workshop is best for beginner gardeners or if you’d like to learn tips for growing in the Okanagan climate (eg. Did you know that Basil likes to grow in full sun in Vancouver but needs shade to grow well in the Okanagan?).
We will also introduce UBCO’s new Seed Library (“within the UBCO Library”) where you can get unique seeds for free and information on how to grow them! You are invited to contribute some seeds back to the library once your plant has gone to seed.
