A celebration of Asian Canadian histories and contributions

Asian Heritage Month opening event

The opening event for this year’s Asian Heritage Month showcases and honours the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Asian communities in the Okanagan.

Join us for an enlightening panel discussion on “Sharing Experiences of Belonging and Integration in the Okanagan.” This discussion will feature student voices from UBC Okanagan, Okanagan College and Okanagan Mission Secondary, who will share their personal insights and experiences with integration and belonging in our community.

  • Dr. Shirley Chau, Associate Professor of Social Work in the Faculty of Health & Social Development

UBCO Panelists

  • Aradhita Arora is a fourth-year student from India studying psychology honours and management. Aradhita is active in UBCO campus life, an International Major Entrance Scholarship recipient and an Outstanding International Student Award recipient.
  • Rahul Nagulapally is a fourth-year student, majoring in computer science, and has lived in Canada for most of his life. Rahul is an executive member of the UBCO Asian Students Association. He is originally from South India in the state of Telangana.

This event has been organized in partnership between UBC Okanagan University Relations, UBC Okanagan Equity and Inclusion Office, the OCCA Communities Association and Okanagan College.

There is no charge for admission and all are welcome to attend.
