UBCO’s Department of Psychology and the Centre for Obesity & Well-Being Research Excellence are proud to welcome MP Todd Doherty as part of its Advocacy Speaker Series.

In his presentation, “Realizing Change in Mental Health and Behavioural Health Policy,” Mr. Doherty will focus on the provincial and federal governments’ goal of advocating for mental health initiatives, working with grass roots organizations, and giving recommendations to psychologists on how they can advance change.

Mr Doherty is a Conservative Party MP representing Cariboo-Prince George, and was the architect behind the launching of Canada’s three-digit suicide prevention hotline (988). He is currently serving as Canada’s Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention while spearheading a federal-provincial strategy to address PTSD (Bill C-211). He aims to establish comprehensive, evidence-based solutions for mental health issues, including PTSD and occupational stress injuries, at the structural level.

Please RSVP by emailing core.lab@ubc.ca to receive the Zoom link.
