CMPS Symposium Series: Using Dynamical Geometry Tools To Study Algorithms

September 29, 2021 at 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Statistics invites you to a free, virtual lecture from Dr. Scott Lindstrom of Curtin University in Perth, Australia.

In his talk, Using Dynamical Geometry Tools To Study Algorithms, Dr. Lindstrom will describe how he used the free geometry tool Cinderella to discover and describe a class of algorithms that may be useful for nonlinear optimization.

This presentation will be conducted entirely within the dynamical interface, so that all of the concepts are visible.

Dr. Lindstrom received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Newcastle in 2019 and is currently a postdoctoral fellow. His work reflects the original and intrepid research philosophy of his supervisor, the late Laureate Professor Jonathan M. Borwein, who was a pioneer in the field of experimental mathematics.
