EEGS Seminar Series 2020: You Are What You eat – or Are You?

October 22, 2020 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

EEGS Seminar Series 2020: You Are What You eat – or Are You?

An exploration of the environments that made us who we are.

Humans, in many varieties, evolved and were forged during the Pleistocene. Between the ice of oscillating glacial intervals, and the fire of other biological challenges, humans evolved in response to their environments. Generally, it’s assumed we know much of the biophysical environment of those times, but that knowledge is based on either modern analogues, or commonly-seen reconstructions and stereotypes of the past. Here, we suggest that relying on those inputs will create an impression that falls vastly short of reality.

This talk will use a diverse data set to illustrate the biophysical conditions that shaped humans.
