Equity Matters Forum: Bullying persists
February 21 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Overview
Pink Shirt Day (anti-bullying campaign) is on February 28 and marks the 17th anniversary of the provincial legislation which led to UBC’s Respectful Environment Statement. Yet, bullying persists. Discrimination persists.
In recognition of this day, join staff facilitators, student leaders and EDI committee members from across campus on February 21 for an informal and experimental forum on the effectiveness of active bystander training, anti-bullying initiatives, allyship training, cancel culture, and more. Through collective discussions, we hope to address why bullying persists and what we can do about it. The goal is that attendees will leave with more confidence in addressing bullying and harassment, or at least, with a new perspective on what efforts exist to make the campus a discrimination and harassment-free place.
*The University Theatre (ADM 026) can only be accessed from the outside of the Campus Administration building, on the first floor, facing the Engineering, Management and Education building.
This event is hosted by the UBC Equity & Inclusion Office.
