Global Education Week 2023: Roots and Relationships – Syilx Artists Showcase

Syilx artist and knowledge keeper Krystal Withakay is hosting an evening of talent sharing alongside fellow Syilx artists.
Complimentary food and refreshments will be provided.
Global Education Week is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to learn about how they can engage around the world. As part of Global Education Week, the Global Engagement Office will organize presentations, information sessions, and cultural celebration events to recognize our international student body, foster intercultural learning, promote study-abroad opportunities, and highlight internationalization efforts on our campus. Global Education Week 2023 will take place from October 30 to November 2.
ARTISTS BIOS
Levi Brent
Levi Bent is an indigenous artist, dancer, storyteller, and fluent speaker of the nsyilxcn language. Levi’s sense of humor creates a fun and respectful atmosphere to share and learn about culture. Levi encourages crowd participation and spontaneous improvisation.
Coralee Miller
My name is Coralee Miller, I am a member of Westbank First Nation and I am a syilx/Okanagan Woman. I work full time as a docent at the Sncewips heritage museum where my duties include providing tours, consultation and providing interpretation of syilx/Okanagan culture and heritage. I work as an informational guide and enjoy sharing my culture and history through the syilx/Okanagan perspective. I am passionate about my work and culture and I am always happy to offer my assistance in any way that I can. When I am not working I love to make art through sculpting, painting and digital media. I love to express myself and my culture through art and storytelling. Limlimt
