Land Acknowledgements: Putting into Practice

August 9, 2021 at 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

The Centre for Teaching and Learning, in partnership with Aboriginal Programs & Services and Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (Vancouver), will be offering the Foundations for Indigenization in Teaching & Learning Series over the summer sessions for faculty and instructors to bridge knowledge gaps and provide the foundation needed for Indigenizing teaching and learning practices at UBC Okanagan. Participants will gain the language, awareness, and foundational context necessary to begin the journey of Indigenizing curriculum, course design, and engagement.

After completing the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (Vancouver) Respect, Sincerity & Responsibility: Land Acknowledgements at UBC course, the Land Acknowledgement: Putting into Practice session provides faculty and instructors with an opportunity to practice applying land acknowledgements in different mediums (written text; verbally) learning environments (online; in-person), and teaching contexts. Participants will have the chance to bring forward questions and curiosities that they may still have about Land Acknowledgements and unpack and reflect their learning journey to date.
