Objects in Motion

January 21 at 7:00 pm

$15 – $30

Objects in Motion presents a night of rare international animated shorts curated by visual arts professor, local artist and animator, Myron Campbell. Now in its eighth installment, the program will feature a mix of stop-motion films with physical objects, as well as purely digital works that focus on synthetic, digital objects.

This year’s festival will include prominent titles such as Amanda Strong’s new stop-motion film, Inkwo for When the Starving Return. Strong is a Red River Metis filmmaker from Vancouver, and Campbell says the powerful film tells the story of Dove, a gender-shifting warrior and how they use their Indigenous medicine (Inkwo) to protect their community from an unburied swarm of terrifying creatures. Another notable film is Beautiful Men by Belgian filmmaker Nicolas Keppens which explores the touching story of three brothers who travel to Istanbul to undergo a hair transplant. Please note the selection of films is appropriate for mature audiences.

Tickets are $30 each, and there is a half-price student discount for any student, up to 2 tickets. Use this promo code when purchasing online, LT25UBCO –  (promo code is for Objects in Motion only)
