Event Series Event Series: Orange Shirt Day Art Build

Orange Shirt Day Art Build

September 26, 2022 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies is pleased to invite people to participate in two workshops to create a series of hummingbird flags to be installed on campus on Sept. 30.

Carve a hummingbird in honour of the children (little spirits) who never came home and remember the unmarked graves at residential schools across Canada, as we continue to demand justice for Indigenous communities.

Workshops:

Carving: Sept 15th 7 to 9 pm
Printing: Sept 26th noon to 5 pm
Location: CCS 127 (Printmaking Studio)

Carve and print a relief hummingbird design, materials provided.

All students, staff and faculty are welcome. Please email fccs.ubco@ubc.ca to register.

These workshops will be facilitated by Tania Willard, Assistant Professor in Visual Arts, and the Indigenous Art Intensive Coordinator.
