Orange Shirt Day Flag Installation

September 27 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

The Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies in collaboration with UBC Okanagan Gallery are pleased to invite the public to install a series of printed hummingbird flags in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Participants will plant small flags featuring images of hummingbirds to honour the children (little spirits) who never came home and remember the unmarked graves at residential schools across Canada, as we continue to demand justice for Indigenous communities. The flags produced this year will be added to the collection of previous year’s flags and installed in a circle at the Central Courtyard on the UBC Okanagan campus.

This event is free and open to students, faculty and the general public. Flags are provided and you do not have to attend the printing workshop to participate in the installation event.
