Orange Shirt Day paper crafting event

September 26 at 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

free
Paper cut outs of orange paper shirts with Every Child Matters written on them.

UBC Okanagan students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to stop by the Sawchuk Family Theatre from 9 am to 2 pm on Thursday, September 26 to craft an orange paper shirt, learn more about Orange Shirt Day, and reflect on Truth and Reconciliation.

The paper shirts completed at this event will be displayed around campus to help raise awareness about Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which both occur on September 30. For more information, contact Christian Isbister at christian.isbister@ubc.ca

Wearing or displaying Orange Shirts is a way to honour Survivors of the residential school system and remember those children who did not return home. Although an orange shirt can be a significant show of solidarity, students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to walk their learning forward by attending local events, spreading awareness, and taking time for personal reflection and self-care. Learn more about Orange Shirt Day and how you can participate.
