Professional Practice in Creative Writing

Editor and writer Anna Kiernan will give a talk on professional practice, from marketing to pitching to editing, with a Q&A to follow.

Free and open to the public. No registration required.

This talk is organized by Creative Writing professor Michael V. Smith who has partnered up with Anna Kiernan from the University of Exeter to run a publishing opportunity for students from each campus. This collaboration is made possible with funding from the UBC Okanagan-Exeter Excellence Initiator Grant.

Anna Kiernan

Anna Kiernan

Anna Kiernan is the programme director of the MA Creativity: Innovation and Business Strategy at the University of Exeter and also lectures on publishing and communications programmes. She is also co-director of The Literary Platform, a creative incubator and digital publisher. She has a background in trade publishing, and as a communications strategist who specialises in cross-disciplinary working and partnership brokering. Anna’s latest book is Writing Cultures and Literary Media: Publishing and Reception in the Digital Age
