What does it mean to own something in a digital world?
As technology reshapes how we consume, traditional ideas of ownership are becoming more fluid. From streaming services to the sharing and subscription economies, value is increasingly defined by access rather than possession. In this talk, Dr. Russ Belk explores how these shifts are transforming consumption and ownership, using the art world as a leading indicator. He examines dematerialization, virtualization, and the rise of the metaverse, offering insights into what an emerging post-ownership society may look like.
