Queer Orientation 2020: Intersectionality & Queerness – an exploration of identity

The theory of intersectionality is a growing topic that describes the multiple layers and intersections of our varying identities. How do our intersecting identities influence the way we see and experience the world as Queer Indigenous, Black, People of Colour?
Join our panelists Cicely Belle Blain, Madeline Terbasket, Anas Qartoumeh, and moderator, Tariro Dzvairo as they explore this question and the ways in which they navigate their identities. This event will have discussion, performance, and Q&A components!
Madeline Terbasket (aka Rez Daddy) is a Two-spirit drag and burlesque performer. They are Syilx, Ho-Chunk and Anishinaabe. Since coming out as Two-spirit, Madeline has been exploring their masculine and feminine sides.
Cicely Blain is a Black/mixed, queer femme from London, UK now living on the lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh people. They are noted for founding Black Lives Matter Vancouver and subsequently being listed as one Vancouver’s 50 Most Powerful People, BC Business’s 30 under 30 and one of 150 Black women and non-binary people making change across Canada.
