(Re)Claim & Connect

(Re)Claim & Connect is a small group for Asian Canadians focused on storytelling and connection, facilitated by two UBCO counsellors. The group provides a safe space to share your story in a manner that feels validated and supported by others with shared experiences.

The goals of the group are to help:

• Build confidence in your identity
• Foster connection and a sense of belonging
• Discuss the complexities of straddling multiple identities
• Generally improve wellbeing

What to expect

These groups are structured and facilitated by UBCO Counsellors, who are trained to run the program. The group will be kept small (around five participants total) to encourage conversation and connection. Each session or theme will have reflective questions to help guide your story development. During the program, you will then share your story and listen to stories from others.

Eligibility requirements

• Asian heritage (any and all regions of Asia, including multiracial)
• Interested in sharing your experiences of your racial identity through personal storytelling in a small group setting
• A current member of the UBCO community
