Taking Physics Outside the Classroom
November 28 at 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
First year physics students are learning the concepts of physics via innovative hands-on learning activities. Two events are planned and all UBCO faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.
The annual Water Rocket Competition will be held on Tuesday, November 28 from 3:30 to 4:00 pm on Nonis Sports Field. First-year physics students have built their own water-propulsion rockets and will be competing against one other for extra credit.
They will also be displaying devices they have built and conducting various physics demos at Hands-On Projects Presentation Day on November 28th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the EME foyer.
The projects, based on concepts learned during the semester, will be evaluated by Physics and Engineering professors. The names of the three top teams will be announced and those with the highest scores will be awarded extra credits for the course.
