Tech Talk 3: The Making-Of the Inclusive Language Twitter Corpus

November 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Join us in the AMP Lab for this Tech Talk presented by Yarubi Díaz Colmenares, Bibiana Cortés, Lucas Quesada, and Diana Carter. The talk will focus on the experience of collecting and analyzing a Twitter corpus to observe current uses of inclusive language in Spanish.

Three points will be addressed:

  1. Tweet collection through Netlytic.org software using a battery of descriptors and parameters;
  2. Automatic coding using Python scripts; and
  3. Manual coding of some of the variables. We present some of the challenges that we faced during the retrieval and analysis of the corpus data, as well as the benefits of using these digital tools in Digital Humanities Research.

The Tech Talks Series is a lunch hour, casual presentation and conversation about digital tools and digital humanities focused research, organized by the AMP Lab.
