Visiting Artists Lecture Series: Hannah Rickards

September 20 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Visual Arts Visiting Artist Series program brings in a diverse variety of artists for campus talks and public gallery presentations that include visual artists, filmmakers, sculptors, painters, playwrights, essayists, interactive and digital media artists. Each artist presents a talk to students in the BFA program and the public, as well as offering critiques to students in the 4th year of the Visual Arts Program.

Our 2022/23 Visiting Artist Series will be held in person on Tuesdays at 2 pm in the University Theater, ADM 026

September 20th: Hannah Rickards’ interdisciplinary practice explores the non-linear dynamic between site, gesture, staging and recording, integrating the language of performance, film, drawing and installation. Rickards has held solo exhibitions at The Polygon Gallery, Modern Art Oxford, the Fogo Island Gallery, Artspeak, The Whitechapel Gallery and The Showroom Gallery, London. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; the Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton; ICA, London and Witte de With, Rotterdam, and in the Hayward Gallery’s touring exhibition, ‘Listening’. She received the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in 2008 and in 2015 was awarded the Phillip Leverhulme Prize in Visual and Performing Arts. From 2007 to 2018 Hannah was a lecturer in the 4D Pathway of the BA Fine Art course at Central Saint Martins, London; she lives and works in Coldstream, on the traditional unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Peoples.
