Glitching Landscape Photography Workshop with Krystle Silverfox

UBC Okanagan Gallery in collaboration with the Indigenous Art Intensive program invites you to join interdisciplinary artist Krystle Silverfox to learn the art of glitching landscape photography.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about digital negatives and basic code manipulation of digital photographs. We will explore a process of text-based coding to create unexpected glitches within landscape photographs. Participants will experiment and play with provided landscape photography, and learn how to create abstracted landscape photographs without Photoshop.

This workshop is free and open to the public. No previous knowledge of coding is required. Participants may bring their own laptop or can use one of the computers in the lab where the workshop is hosted.

About the artist:

Krystle Silverfox is a member of Selkirk First Nation (Wolf Clan), and an interdisciplinary visual artist. She currently lives and works on the territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwach’an Council (Whitehorse, Yukon). Silverfox holds both a BFA in Visual Art (2015); a BA in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice from UBC (2013); also an MFA in Interdisciplinary studies from Simon Fraser University (2019).

 

Her artistic practice explores different materials, methodologies, and symbols to create conceptual works. Krystle Silverfox is inspired by Indigenous feminism, trans- nationalism, decolonialism, activism, and lived experience.
