CTL Workshop: Discussions Online

Whether you are using synchronous discussions in real time or asynchronous discussions in your canvas course, there are many strategies to help motivate and encourage students to participate and stay engaged. There are some very important steps that should be taken if you are going to use online discussion including:
- Creating a safe space
- Building community
- Facilitating the Discussion process
- Modeling and guiding students so that the discussion are a helpful learning activity
- Asking good questions
- Assessing online discussions using rubrics and self-reflection
- YOUR experience, we want to hear from you!
