Join us on March 21 to support Earth Hour 2024

UBC Okanagan’s Sustainability Office invites you to participate in the campus-wide challenge of Earth Hour: One Hour, No Power. Let’s show how UBCO can conserve energy.

March 21 | Noon to 1 pm
All campus buildings

How to Participate

Turn off lights in unoccupied spaces campus-wide during the one-hour challenge. Contribute to energy conservation. No registration is required.

Small Actions, Big Impact
Did you know flipping a switch in spaces with occupancy sensors can save 30 minutes of unnecessary energy consumption? Remember to turn off lights when leaving:
• Offices
• Meeting Rooms
• Classrooms
• Labs
• Residences

Call for Volunteers

The Sustainability Office is seeking Earth Hour volunteers to help audit building areas, identifying where lights are left on and where they were turned off.

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER

How can you help on March 21?

  • Walk through select campus buildings from noon to 1 pm
  • Log all instances where lights are left on or turned off in unoccupied spaces
  • Please turn lights off in unoccupied areas

Which building will show the greatest energy reduction during the one-hour challenge?
Check back in early April for the results.

Let’s make a positive impact together.
