Engineering Capstone Project Showcase and Competition

Students, faculty and staff at UBC, and members of the Kelowna community are invited to celebrate the innovation, creativity and intellect of the UBC Okanagan School of Engineering’s brightest minds.

This year, we have 346 students working on 59 projects that represent real-world problems spanning the areas of:

• automotive and aerospace
• community and humanitarian engineering
• infrastructure and construction
• innovative devices and systems
• software and data systems
• sustainable and environmental solutions

For many of these projects, students partnered with industry leaders or UBC faculty to design innovative solutions to current engineering problems. However, some are student-led projects, making this event a launch pad for their entrepreneurial ideas. All projects will be on display for guests to discover and enjoy at the KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence.

A distinguished panel of judges, comprising industry leaders and engineering faculty, will then evaluate these projects. The winners will be announced at the event’s grand finale!

You’re invited to check out these innovative student projects and tour the host facility that includes an interactive aviation exhibit and historic aircraft collection.

The Capstone Project Showcase will run from 2 to 4 pm, and the KF Aviation Exhibit and Features will be open from 12 to 4 pm. Food and beverages will be available on-site for purchase from popular local food trucks.

Plan Ahead!

TAKE THE SHUTTLE

A shuttle service will be available to transport students, staff, faculty and other guests from the UBC Okanagan campus to the KF Centre for Excellence. View the shuttle bus schedule and pick-up and drop-off points, here.

Note: If you plan on parking at the UBC campus, and then taking the shuttle bus, you will be required to pay for short-term parking. Find out more about parking lot fees.
